Our Journey
Humble Beginnings
Tai Seng Turtle Soup’s journey began decades ago in 1976, rooted in traditions passed down through generations. It all started in their small, cozy kitchen located in Lorong Tai Seng, where Mr and Mrs Ang Mia Chaw experimented with
different herbs and broths, each time refining the recipe until it became a masterpiece.
Their decision to perfect turtle soup was deeply rooted in the health benefits that they knew of, passed down from their parents. Understanding the nourishing properties of turtle soup, they were committed to refining the recipe to
offer a dish that not only satisfied the palate but also promoted well-being. Imagine a kitchen filled with the rich aroma of simmering herbs, where every ingredient is carefully selected and every pot stirred with love. This is
the domain of the grandparents, who have spent years perfecting a soup recipe that is as nourishing for the soul as it is for the body.
Now, as they pass the recipe down to their children, this special recipe is strictly followed, preserving the essence of what makes it special. The soup remains a testament to the patience and dedication of the grandparents, who understood that the best things in life take time and that the most nourishing meals are those made with love.
In this soup, there is a taste of nostalgia—a reminder that some recipes are not just about the food but about the memories, love, and history that come with them.
Our Journey
Continuing Tradition
Andy’s journey began when he was just a teenager, helping out at the family store. With a natural passion for cooking and a deep respect for tradition, Andy quickly became an integral part of the kitchen, learning the ropes from the ground up. Over the years, his dedication and love for the craft grew, transforming him into the culinary expert he is today.
As time passed, Mr and Mrs Ang Mia Chaw made the difficult decision to retire due to their advancing age. Andy now carries forward the tradition, ensuring that the essence of their beloved turtle soup remains unchanged, preserving the family’s heritage for future generations.
Today, Tai Seng Turtle Soup serves not just our loyal customers from the past, but has also attracted a new generation of diners.

“Absolutely love this traditional cuisine. The turtle is bred for consumption by the way. So it’s ethically sourced. The soup was my life saver whenever I catch a cold. It helps to improve the “yang” in me and really tasted awesome. The price is worth! Best of all, you can top up the soup. Had been visiting this since I was a kid when my dad brought me to the original soup more than 40 years ago. It’s worth a visit as it’s really a dying trade. Once this is gone, it will be lost forever!”

“Tai Seng Turtle Soup is a gem worth visiting, especially on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is easy to locate and offers convenient parking within the building. We enjoyed an authentic meal, with the $50 turtle soup for four standing out as a highlight. For those looking for more, the $60 option offers more portion. The $50 soup includes a good mixture of the skin and leg meat. We also ordered turtle eggs, while small, were delicious and easy for oner person to finish three. We also savoured the Cai Xin, Gai Lan, and Chai Po Omelette. The entire meal was both affordable and satisfying. The super friendly uncle added to the experience by topping up our soup twice, which was fantastic. The soup, served in a clay pot, stayed hot throughout our meal, even in the air-conditioned room. We’re likely to return for another visit.”

“Authentic turtle soup served in a family-friendly environment. Specialities include both turtle soup and crocodile soup; sides include fried chicken wings (always a hit with the kids), omelette, fish cake and vegetables. The turtle soup is neither overly herbal or salty, strikes a good balance between meat and collagen-rich skin pieces, and goes down very well with yam rice.
Share a large bowl of soup in a group, or get your very own bowl of soup to enjoy!”

“One of my secret comfort food venue whenever I’m around Paya Lebar area!
Park-eat-go type of food place, away from crowd where I can have a peaceful lunch, recharge and back to work.
Turtle soup is very tasty and serving is good with all the mixed ingredients.
Also like the yam rice. Harder to find such rice nowadays. Think they’re perfect fit with turtle soup!
Worth trying!”
